AQFlow has acquired a cluster of computers and sophisticated CFD software including the latest ANSYS and Amtec products (CFX, Fluent, ICEMCFD). The company has applied the CFD technique since 1998, with particular attention to improving the Acoustic Scintillation Flow Meter technology used in hydroelectric power plants. CFD studies were carried out successfully in several hydroelectric plants in the US and Canada. Other CFD applications were carried out as well and validated with experiments. All the simulations are performed on AQFlow's parallel computing facility. The CFD studies at AQFlow include the following categories:
  • Hydrodynamics (Hydro-Electric plants, AUV's, VIV modeling)
  • Free Surface Flows (Spillway Structures, Interface Vehicles)
  • Aerodynamics (Automotive and Aerospace applications)
  • Fluid Structure Interaction (Oscillating structures) - Example
