A three dimensional study was carried out to investigate the effect of the Reynolds number on the drag forces acting on an AUV prototype. The Shear Stress Transport based K-Omega turbulence model was used in this study. The Figures in the left column show the underwater vehicule configuration and the grid used around it. The Figures in the right column show the mean horizontal velocity distribution around the AUV moving at 6 m/s and the profile of the drag forces versus AUV velocities.
